Topics that are
text containers
Typical mind or concept map is a set of topics. Some topics are just one
or two words, another might contain a lot of text information.
The way to manage with map topics
In fact we addresses to topics (frames) styles. We can change frame's
style so it will be able to represent large title
or a pack of useful text data.
Making frame style for text blocks
Now, what we can do to make a frame style that will help to represent
text blocks.
- Select "Frame Styles" in View menu.
- Now let's create or edit some existent frame style. In this example
I'm creating new style called "Text Block".
- First, let's change font size to 7,25 points. It's small enough, but
still easy readable.
- Second, let's change text align to "middle left".
- Now we should pass some minor changes. Let's change background color
to something about white and font color to black. This will make text
more readable.
Let's
now assign created frame style to the frame and see how it looks like. It's
now perfect to represent some text block. The text font is now small enough
to show all necessary data.
Using text blocks
We have discussed how to create Title Topics
and text boxes. This is a simple way to make your mind map looks more
professional and easy to understand.
Mind Pad in our own business
As
we are using Mind Pad in our business, we do create some business schemes
that allows to understand better our processes (we are using process
mapping technique).
This is a screenshot of our process map, that in simple way describe
software development and marketing process.
We used some ideas to create this scheme.
- "D" and "M" letters meaning
"Development" and "Marketing" cycles. We used ideas
that we discussed in Frame
Title article.
- We used different links to display Investments (Red lines), Work
process (Blue lines) and Results Generating (Green line). We discussed
this in Using
link styles article.
- Also, we put some
business vital information in text box. It's handy to have some large,
informative text blocks on mind map. We wrote about creating such blocks
in Text
Containers article (you are reading it now).
