Using link styles
Using link styles is great way to make your mind or concept map looks
more professional and to make it easy understandable. Learn how to change
links styles - colors, width, caps and other.
Link in Mind Pad
Links in Mind Pad were designed to set a relation between two topics.
When we deal with large map it's handy to have links with different meaning
to display different ideas.
For instance, if you create a map that explains the development cycle
then you'd probably want to use some special links to show where investments
(of time or money) are made, when you should spend some resources and what
stages generates some result.
Change link style properties
You can change Links color and width
It's
handy to use thin lines for some minor ideas and it's a good idea to use thick
lines for some important points.
The same idea about coloring. You can change colors to display the idea
of this process, for instance you may use Red for "Investments"
and Blue for "Results generating".
Note: in some cases we don't want line to be visible, so we can use a transparent
as a line color .
Use brush style and change caps
Also,
you can change brush style. Available styles are Solid, Dotted, Dashed.
You can associate some idea with style you are using. It may tell a lot
about involved processes.
Line caps
Finally,
you can modify line caps to represent your idea about this process.
You can create lines that point in both directions and you can create
lines that starts or ends with some special shape.
Mind Pad in our own business
As
we are using Mind Pad in our business, we do create some business schemes
that allows to understand better our processes (we are using process
mapping technique).
This is a screenshot of our process map, that in simple way describe
software development and marketing process.
We used some ideas to create this scheme.
- "D" and "M" letters meaning
"Development" and "Marketing" cycles. We used ideas
that we discussed in Frame
Title article.
- We used different links to display Investments (Red lines), Work
process (Blue lines) and Results Generating (Green line). We discussed
this in Using
link styles article (you are reading it now).
- Also, we put some
business vital information in text box. It's handy to have some large,
informative text blocks on mind map. We wrote about creating such blocks
in Text
Containers article.
