An interesting micro content application called TiddlyWikki
|
|
|
TiddlyWiki is an experimental Micro Content WikiWikiWeb.
It allows anyone to create personal Self-Contained hypertext documents that can be posted to any web server, sent by email or kept on a USB thumb drive.
It's written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript to run on any modern browser without needing any Server Side logic.
It could be very interesting if mind map software could output and input into this approach, especially in producing simple wikiwebsites, either for personal on desktop or even websites.
And what these TiddlyWiki do look like it has incredible potential. Even Blogging, RSS etc could benefit.

Panama is the first country adopting Cmaps nationwide
|
|
|
The Cmap software was designed to literally map out what scientists know in diagram form.
And now The Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition is providing the concept mapping software to individual schools as well as training teachers in Panama.
Software, first designed to preserve scientists' knowledge now can be used as a tool to help children learn.
Cmaps can be used to assess student knowledge, encourage thinking and problem solving instead of rote learning, organize information for writing projects and help teachers write new curricula.
Gaspar Tarte, who is spearheading education reform in Panama as the country's secretary of governmental innovation, wrote: We need to move education from a memorizing system and repetitive system to a dynamic system. We would like to use tools and a methodology that helps children construct knowledge, concept maps was the best tool that we found.
A Cmap is a series of concepts, usually nouns, linked by phrases or verbs.

Mind-Pad and MindManager
|
|
|
| Mind-Pad seems a great product, however, I've been using Mindmanager X5 Pro for some time. Can you give me some ways or methods which could perhaps persuade me that Mind-Pad is a better product. I am interested in purchasing Mind-Pad, but only if it can offer a really new way for mindmapping etc..

Re: Mind-Pad and MindManager

Mind Pad supports "object-oriented" approach. Meaning your topics may be not just a text or picture boxes, but objects with variety of properties.
For instance, with Mind Pad you can create your own contact map, every topic will have a properties, such as "Name", "Phone", "E-mail" ... Read more: Contact map with Mind Pad
Imagine, you are brainstorming the idea of using some product to solve the problem. You would like to collect in mind map all the information about candidates -- name, price, web-site, short note and others. With Mind Pad you can easily design an object with properties you need (or use some default object or contact us for new object request). Read more about object-oriented mind mapping in Mind Pad
If you have a purchase decision that I'd like to recommend to purchase Mind Pad right now. We are now working on new version and it will have a lot of new features making Mind Pad competitive to Mind Manager and other products. As a result we will change the Mind Pad pricing (we will keep it in-expensive, but we will have to change the price). So now is the best time for purchase.
Thank you for your questions and I hope you will use Mind Pad
Thanks so much for your reply. There were three great things I liked about your response ...
1 - How quickly you replied.
2 - The detail about your product.
3 - Not bagging your opposition.
I purchased Mind-Pad earlier tonight after getting your reply and I look forward to the new features!

Now I feel Mind Pad to be a valuable software. MindManager is good, but with Mind Pad it's EASY to create good-looking stylish maps.
Also, I'm now learning contact map (using Person type object) and it looks great, more over, it's a good approach as important information is visualized.
